Summary of the website of Dietician Moniek Westerman

If you'd like to consult a Dietician in the English Language, you are most welcome to make an appointment with me. I'd also be happy to answer any questions about how this 'works' in the Dutch Health Service. Please let me know!

My practice is very 'general', I welcome young and old (er) people. I do see a lot of students - so  I'm quite specialised in dealing with their particular questions.

My name is Moniek Westerman - I've had my own Dietetic Practice in Groningen for over 20 years. I'm Registered according to the Dutch regulations (Kwaliteitsregister Paramedici) which guarantees that, after the initial Diploma-training of 4 years, a five-yearly review takes place on the grounds of further schooling and a certain level of continued experience. Besides this registration, I am also enrolled as a member of the Dutch Dietetic Association (NVD).

Would you like to make an appointment?

The consultation will, in many cases, be covered by your Dutch insurance. If you have a foreign insurance, please check this yourself!

For the Dutch insurance there are several rules, I'll be happy to explain in detail to you individually. Most likely, there are no problems and you can come to see me without any unexpected costs (not including the compulsary no claim limit).

The 'basiszorgverzekering' (the compulsory part of your Dutch Health Insurance) will cover the costs, up to a maximum of 180 minutes (direct time and indirect time).

In specific cases you'll need a 'letter of referral' (in Dutch 'verwijsbrief') from your GP or Specialist Consultant.

The most common reasons for consulting a dietician are: Diabetes, Cardio Vascular Risks (e.g. high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels), weight-problems, malnutrition, oncology, problems like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or stomach pains. Of course, I'd also like to help with any other questions related to food / illness.

If you are an International Student and not unfamiliair with our 'food' system - I'd also be happy to advise you and help you find a healthy choice that you like!

My practice has two locations, of which one (Kamerlingheplein 17)  is close to the University: click here
